This website is to allow me to present intelligibly my thoughts and insights on various social, political, historical and even scientific issues I've been studying in the past two years. 

Some of which I have background knowledge of due to having been involved with and interested in various political movements many years ago. 

My political viewpoint leans towards libertarian, except that I am not completely happy with the way some of them think. Libertarians want limited government and civil liberties. As a matter of principle, that is excellent. But then libertarians seem to suffer from this ingrained bias of Western Culture that you can somehow intellectually decide that government "should be" a certain way and then the perfect society can then be achieved by some legislative body sitting down and crafting some written rule decreeing that that is how society is to be from now on.

 

Actually, I think government and the larger society it is embedded in is more like some kind of living beast that you can train or that can morph in one direction or another, but it can't be so easily manipulated or changed as we think. Written rules don't have the exact effect they literally intend, but instead enforcement of the rules and all sorts of other considerations regarding government bureaucracies results in all sorts of ripple effects or unintended consequences. As a result, the most free society does not necessarily result from the one with the nicest and most free sounding written constitution or constitutional rights guaranteeing liberty. A very good example of this issue is the liberal Warren Court expanding all sorts of fifth amendment procedural and technical criminal protections for defendants. Liberals saying they want to do this might be arguing this is to help the poor. The opposite is the truth. This is to help defense attorneys, and why is that a bad thing? Because criminal procedures and technicalities of the liberal Warren Court only resulted in defendants having protection IF they could hire an expensive enough attorney to do a good enough job PRESSING them. Public defenders are part of the corrupt court system, they deliberately do a bad job so as to make sure well heeled defendants find it worth their while to pay extra. Huge sentences ALSO give well heeled defendants more incentive to pay extra. Thus, defense attorneys representing rich criminal defendants have a vested interest in maintaining the strict sentencing policies responsible for Mass Incarceration. Furthermore, there was a law school bubble which burst, and now law schools are doing poorly because lawyers are not finding it worth their while to spend so much money on a law degree. Fact of the matter is, those liberal Warren Court protections indirectly increased legal fees for defense attorneys, thereby contributing to the upward pressure on college tuition and law school tuition, simply because the amount of money attorneys could make from a law degree made it more worthwhile. 

It also is true that the regulatory state increased in many other ways, increasing demand for attorneys in other spheres besides the criminal justice system. But I am going to talk about the criminal justice system here for now to use it as an example.

This is just one example showing how a policy that, examined in the most superficial way you think it's designed to help criminal defendants overall in the long run has the exact opposite effect. Because these protections are ones that only can be accessed by those with the money to pay for top dollar attorneys. And, it isn't always necessarily related to the facts of the case. The attorney usually has an incestuous relationship with everyone else in the court system, so much so that basically if you pay the right attorney enough money, you will get off because he is friends with all the judges and prosecutors, and parole officers, etc.

And for me to say that could lead to others thinking it is rather awful to have a court system so incestuously corrupt. Except, these are all nice people who know each other and court systems have ALWAYS been like this, more or less. And they always will be this way. Government is incapable of being perfect. Understanding its inherent imperfections such as this are necessary when it comes to avoiding passing laws which interact with such a culture in a way to produce very bad outcomes.

 

After all, we have always had government and, for some reason, it would appear if we always have had it, that is because we need it. The inner workings of government are so awful, you discover after you observe it, it can easily lead many to think we should just abolish it. But, given that that is impossible, the best alternative is to understand it as inherently flawed, and realistically think of how to make things "the least bad."

This is what I have thought for a long time, yet only recently have I stumbled across some law professors who subscribe to a movement called "legal realism." It turns out they think exactly the way I do, and see the same flaws in our society (or in the thinking of popular culture which leads to wrong-headed policies in our legal system) that I see.

Oddly enough, they seem to describe themselves as leftists yet they are not the kind of ordinary mainstream leftist most people would understand to be "of the left." Which is strange because I never would have thought of myself as a liberal -- but not a conservative either. But maybe this is because of certain strands of liberalism I have been exposed to which are quite awful. 

In any case, why categorize oneself? As I study and learn more about society, I like to share various insights and not limit myself to any one "box" or "category" that I pigeonhole myself into.

Post 2 -- Summary focusing on January 2009 date rape drugging and aftermath

Which is a quick summary, which helps give a flavor and hint of the larger story behind it. 

For now, I think I will just copy and paste the post as is into here, but I may choose to put this page on another squarespace blog, and substitute it for a different "list" that explains much I left out here. You might say, in the below post I "glossed over" tons of stuff, though it's impossible or very difficult to explain complex issues concisely or quickly, so I will have to flesh things out later. Furthermore, note my initial post on this blog starts with a discussion of Naomi Wolf's "geopolitics by blackmail" article. This second post ought to be a continuation of that theme. It isn't. But maybe the next post will be.

Initial Date Rape Drugging Incident, subsequent botched frame up, threats, plea deal in empty courtroom

Some background. This date rape drugging incident -- and several other -- happened in January of 2009. However, it is not like I didn't have a lot of people from the gay community stalk or harass me prior, especially after I got a job at an insurance company that was owned by Berkshire Hathaway. It's just, this was an intensification of previous harassment.

One other thing. I ended up leaving the job at Berkshire Hathaway because of the harassment. But what was interesting was, this "exotic dancer/stripper" used to work at ramrod, which is well known to be Boston's sleaziest mafia owned gay bar, at least I've been told by many, where all of the employees are drug dealers/drug addicts.

In that light, I think it is a bit odd for an exotic dancer from a sleazy bar I used to occasionally go to to suddenly get a job as a personal trainer at the Boston Sports Club which was located right across the street from the subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway where I worked. I mean, come on. Personal trainers are supposed to be paragons of virtue when it comes to health, not drug addicts and steroid abusers (which is another thing he apparently was, I was told by someone).

However, at some point this personal trainer/stripper was successfully able to convince Boston Sports Club to revoke my membership at the gym, after I complained about my date rape drugging at Ramrod. But then, he even went and followed me to the new gym I joined afterwards, which later closed down shortly after I informed the owner of the situation. I had warned the manager of the new gym of the situation, and this manager hired Eddie anyway. The moment I saw him there, I left the gym and complained to one of the personal trainers at the gym who was rather snarky to me and flippantly told me that if I didn't like it, I could work out on the sidewalk outside the gym if I wanted to avoid this person.

I don't like to go into this much detail, but I did not complain to the owner of the gym regarding this problem immediately, because I had to "lay low" and "not make waves" lest I provoke the police into harassing me. This is the society we live in, where police harass male rape victims if they complain about being date rape drugged in sleazy bars, and will try to frame them or entrap them to shut them up.

Tiger9x7 (12:03:57 AM): then on top of it this ramrod employee ariesbear who is close friends with Eddie's boyfriend, Mark, suddenly is urging me to party with some others and he emails me abou 15 times over and over again trying to get me to come over and party, which I didn't because I was already feeling so horrible
Tiger9x7 (12:04:23 AM): so then eventually they get two guys to come over and party with me but they tricked me to take this other drug which they said was G but I'm not sure it was that

Tiger9x7 (12:04:51 AM): the way they did it was I needed poppers and they said they'd bring some but they had forgotten so they told me I could d g instead, whihc would be better

Tiger9x7 (12:06:46 AM): one thing they started doing was having me look at manhunt profiles which they had changed so that in a profile which may be of someone who is a fiend of mine, they'll have it be that one of the pics was Eddie, and then Eddie's boyfriend would try to convince me that Eddie was stalking me

Tiger9x7 (12:07:13 AM): I was starting to notice how Eddie's pic appeared in all these profiles and I was wondering, why had I not noticed before.

Tiger9x7 (12:07:51 AM): and they also had the webcam on the whole time,because apparently the way it works they want to videotape you in the drugged state so as to give you a disincentive to complain about them.
Tiger9x7 (12:09:05 AM): Anyway, when I finally asked them why were they doing this to me, they told me it was because I was chasing eddiie and when I told them I hadn't chased him they changed their story and said Eddie was the one that got them to do it and he likes to pretend to like people so as to jerk them around and then he does this to them for fun. It's kind of funny but Eddie seems like a nice guy but among all those ramrod guys, they all put out these same talking points about him, sort of a form of badmouthing him which keeps others away from him.

And I should point, I was date raped drugged and abused in horrible ways on several other occasions following -- and could do absolutely nothing about it either. Couldn't go to the police. They were in on it.

Here are some examples of some of the threats I had to endure. It's just the tip of the iceberg, though.

Oh and another thing. The police started harassing me and eventually framed me so I got into trouble myself, though I was able to get off, since they botched it. I ended up having a hearing in an empty courtroom with no witnesses present where I got a sweet heart deal plea bargain -- an indication they had no case and were afraid of me taking things to trial and misconduct showing. I took the plea bargain because of all the death threats I had gotten by then. I was so badly intimidated.
